Milk and Cocoon

Babies get to consume milk for their sustenance. And then a stage comes when those baby foods which are a wee bit solid are introduced. And then the meat. There are stages in human life where the sustenance gets to be developed according to the ability to digest. Some people even though they are not babies anymore still drink milk. I drink milk. I love milk. I consume almost everyday. New Zealand has heaps of cows which produce milk. I learned from reading that humans are the only mammals who still drink milk in their adult life. Pets are exceptions because people feed them but if they have their choice, they naturally don’t. Once milk weaned, mammals stop drinking milk. Once Mummy (that’s how kiwis spell it) does not produce milk anymore, we got Formula. And then sometimes it becomes a habit forming for some children. Bottled milk becomes a comfort zone to some children. And then some children are a little bit picky with what they eat and parents got to be skilful and creative on how to introduce edible stuff to their kids’ mouth. And sometimes things can be a bit nasty and forceful in shoving nutritional fodders to kids who don’t want to leave their comfort food. No matter how parents say that this is good for you, they just don’t care. “I want my milk.” But once they get to try it, they would realise that this is simply yummy. “I want more”. I guess this is also similar to how adults are willing to digest wisdom or learning. “This is just a bit too intellectual or too spiritual. I just want to have a simple life”. And so you keep on doing your routine in your comfort zone with a notion that simplifying life is living what you have been used to. And the more you seek a simple life the more you find chaos when you try to excite yourself with your usual outgrown boring shell. Something is not right when you are overdue to become a butterfly and you still try to keep yourself in a cocoon. And then you found out that it’s not simple to live in this cocoon. I would say that simple life is just let the nature takes its course. Simplicity is how you live with what is currently necessary.

The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak. ~Hans Hofmann, Introduction to the Bootstrap, 1993

The way you set your life standards will determine a simple or demanding life and therefore contentment is key. I always find that greed, or a thirst for more (not of for intellectual, spiritual wealth)..but for material things always pushes one outside the "simple" line border, specially in the kind of society we live in- whether you are in your own defined cocoon or not..

I guess simplicity should be according to what each individual needs and not wants.
