THANK YOU, DADDY

I hit the ground running after I was told that they need a design scheme for such and such and councillor needed the design to be presented before the community affected as a proposal by Monday. I was given one week to do it which I know in my normal phase should not be sufficient. I needed to work overtime in my calculation in which I did. What I haven’t calculated was some on the desk request or public enquiries that I needed to accommodate as well as part of my job. I already damped some of the requests while reasoning out that I got an important job for the big boss blah blah blah. I did a bit of time management and a bit of intense facial expression in front of the computer manifesting “i-am-busy-don’t-bother-me” look. To cut it, it was all done on the dot with pat on the back from the big boss and I put smile on my face on way out of the cubicle.

Appreciation is such a powerful drive. It is indeed a magic word that gets the giver to push harder to give and give. Do you ever think it is easier to give to someone who never ceases to appreciate you than to a person who says nothing at all or who gets to criticise you? JC is an expert in appreciation. I am learning from him. He is my son. Every time I give him something he likes, he jumps, he dances, he hugs and he kisses and says, “Thank you, Daddy”. The more he does that, the more I am overjoyed with delight and the more I think of something to give him so I would see him jumps, dances hugs and kisses again.

In my daily prayer, I make it a point that I thank God for the big and small things he has given me for the day. Prayer is not only about asking or wishing that God would give me this and that. Prayer is bonding with God. It’s like a date. It’s two-way communication. I speak and I listen. In my opinion, one of the most important of prayer is praising and thanking Him. These give Him delight. The more you thank and appreciate Him, the more he thinks of ways of how to bless you. Why? Because he is our Dad, our Father.

Appreciation is not only shown in words. Appreciation is also bringing back the blessing. Good deeds are one way of showing appreciation. Sometimes your good deeds are not appreciated by people around you. But it does not matter really because you know in your heart that good deeds are really meant to the One Above. God is smiling at you and that’s what matters.
