STAGE DIRECTOR

I am fascinated when I get to watch shows like X-factor and the Voice where the professionals get to guide the talent. The way the relationship goes well between the talent and the mentor is when the talent gives complete trust with the mentor and just accepts that the mentor has a better view of how the talent can emanate the stuff effectively and well. It’s just like a director who has the best view on what’s going on outside the stage. I remember there was this hip guy who was part of the cast in the stage play. During the rehearsal the director directed him to exaggerate his movement. But the guy being cool but a newbie thought that the movement is awkward and not cool. And so he did not follow the director’s direction when the rest of the cast exaggerated their movements during the performance. During the performance it turned out that the audience viewed that the cool guy was awkward on stage and the rest of the cast were outstanding. What is deemed awkward in real life is normal when seen on stage most of the time. I was recording a commercial jingle and I was inside the sound proofed enclosed space and there was this sound engineer who was listening to me outside the booth giving me direction. I did many takes and I began to get annoyed when I already thought I have done well already and the sound man still was not satisfied and ordering me to do more takes. “You got to be kidding me.” I have never realized that I may be a better singer than he is but he has better ears outside the booth.

There were many instances that the world does not conform to what we want and you ask God “Why?” You lost your job. You need to move houses. You’re being dumped by your partner. You are not invited to a party. You want to go outside the country on weekends and the plane is fully booked. Why! Why! Why! Then you console yourself by thinking and believing that this has happened for a good reason. And it is true for the reason that God sees the bigger picture. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and soul and everything will fall in the right places even though it does not seem to look like it. It is easier to grasp the wisdom when you have clearer pictures, when you found a better job than what you have lost, the house you left became an earthquake stricken zone, you found a better partner than one who dumped you, there was police raid to a party where you were not invited with or the plane you wanted to book crashed. But most of the time we are clueless to the ill fate that has stricken us. All we got is believing that Our Father Almighty knows what’s best for His children. He knows best because he got a good view in heaven. We are not up there. So how can we have a better view than what God has? The world is like a stage. God is our stage director who brings us to where we can shine out. All we need to do is humbly submit.
